Smudge in corner of glasses by nose...

Getting the best value for your money when it comes to eyeglasses, sunglasses, eye exams, and contact lenses.

I bought some Costco glasses a few months ago and there seems to always be a smudge up in the top corner of the lens by the nose on each lens. I've had them adjusted several times at Costco, but after they are adjusted and cleaned or after I clean them at home, within a few hours the smudge is back. I don't think it's because of my skin hitting the lens. I never noticed the smudges on my old glasses which I got from a different optical company, etc...

I guess I'm wondering if it's because the Costco lenses are of lower quality and so the smudge appears easier or is it because of some other reason? (Adjustment problems with glasses, etc.?)..... it's aggravating that the smudges keep reappearing all the time....thanks for any advice...

I've found the Costco glasses to be very good quality with good anti reflective coatings that make cleaning pretty easy. I have found the cleaning cloth they provide does a horrible job, leaving lots of smudges and almost like a film on the glasses.

I've noticed sometimes I have smudges near the nose because I'm not able to get the cleaning other under the nose pads without some effort. What you are describing sounds different.

I'm not sure why that location would get smudges unless something is rubbing against them, or if there is a defect in the antiglare coating. Even the best quality coatings occasionally will have a defect.

One great thing about buying the glasses at Costco is that if you aren't happy for any reason, you can take them back. If after trying a different cleaning cloth you still have problems, see if replacing the lenses works.

If that doesn't work, I'm not sure what the problem is.

I still have my old glasses that I didn't get at Costco and they don't smudge up in the corner. My Costco lenses do. I mean if I wear them for an hour or two there 's a smudge up in the upper corner closest to the nose on each side. I"ve gone back a bunch of times and they keep adjusting the glasses but the smudge still comes back. I'm thinking that maybe they are all like that at Costco. Or the material is different than the higher priced lenses I got before at my optical place that was part of my optical physicians, etc...any ideas??

I'm wondering if it is a defect in the costing. I would ask Costco if they can remake the lenses for you. Clearly there us something unusual going on and something wrong with the glasses. If they aren't rubbing against you, I'm not able to think of any other way smudges can get there.
